Best Linux Distro and Headset for VR Gaming?

I'm trying to decide between using Linux Mint, which I have some experience with, or switching to Bazzite. However, I've recently become interested in VR gaming on Linux. Is it feasible to use my Oculus Rift S with either of these distros? Are there other VR headsets that would work better? Also, if VR gaming isn't a viable option, would the NoVR mod for Half-Life Alyx still function?

When it comes to VR headsets on Linux, you’ll want one that works seamlessly with SteamVR. The Vive or Index are good picks. While there are ways to get Oculus headsets like the Rift S working, they can be a bit tricky and may require some extra tweaks. Since you already have the headset, it’s definitely worth giving it a shot — those things aren’t cheap!

True, the Vive does need its own setup software just like the Rift S, but there’s hope it might run on Linux. I’ve heard that SteamVR performs differently depending on the desktop environment too, with issues on Cinnamon compared to KDE.
