I'm putting together a new desktop rig and would love to get your opinions! Here's what I've picked out so far:

- **RAM**: Corsair Vengeance, 64GB (2x32GB), 5200MHz, DDR5, CL40
- **Power Supply**: ASUS TUF Gaming, 850W, 80 Plus Gold, Modular
- **Fans**: Kit of 3 ASUS TUF Gaming TF120, 120mm, ARGB
- **Motherboard**: ASUS TUF Gaming X670E-Plus, AMD X670, AM5, DDR5
- **Case**: Corsair 3000D Airflow, Mid-Tower, ATX, Tempered Glass Side Panel
- **Cooling**: ASUS TUF Gaming LC 360 II, ARGB, 360mm
- **SSD**: Corsair MP700 Pro, 2TB, M.2 NVMe
- **Processor**: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X, 4.3 GHz, 16 Cores
- **Graphics Card**: MSI RTX 5080 16G VENTUS 3X OC PLUS

This setup will primarily be used for gaming and some coding, and I'd really appreciate your thoughts on whether this setup is overkill or if there are better options I should consider. Thanks!

I think your motherboard choice might be a bit overkill, especially since the X670E boards don't really offer huge performance benefits compared to B650 boards unless you're going for really low-end GPUs. Plus, it seems like the TUF board has fewer USB ports than some cheaper options. Also, consider upgrading your RAM. 5200 CL40 is on the slower side for gaming. A 6000 CL30 would significantly boost performance, especially in CPU-intensive games.

And about the SSD, unless you're copying huge files constantly, you might not need a PCIe 5.0 SSD. A good PCIe 4.0 drive will perform similarly in real-world tasks.

But hey, the 9950X is a powerful CPU! Just keep in mind you might not see a massive increase in gaming performance compared to a 9700X. If you're coding, though, it definitely has its advantages.

Thanks for the insight! I’ll definitely look into changing the RAM since it seems like a common recommendation here. As for the motherboard, I suspected it might be a bit of a splurge. I’ll check out those PCIe 4.0 SSD options too!
