Can My Current PC Handle Sim Racing Games at 3440×1440?

I'm currently using a setup with a GTX 1080, an i7-7700 processor, and 8GB of DDR4 RAM. This build has worked fine for the games I usually play, like Deep Rock, but I'm thinking about diving into sim racing titles like iRacing and ACC. I'm a bit concerned about whether my system can handle games at a resolution of 3440x1440, especially since I know that my RAM situation is a bit tricky with just one working DIMM slot and only 8GB total. I'd love to get some upgrade suggestions, especially since it looks like I might need a new motherboard and CPU as well. Here's a link to my current build for reference: [PCPartPicker](https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Yy4LZc).

For a more reliable performance, something like an AMD 7600X or Intel 9600X paired with a decent motherboard and 32GB of RAM would be a solid choice. Those specs are considered entry-level these days, but they'll definitely handle modern gaming much better than what you currently have.

For sure! And make sure to keep up with the benchmarks to see how the new parts perform with your favorite games!

I'd say it's time for an upgrade. If you're really into sim racing, you should look into a newer RAM kit at the very least. Otherwise, the performance won't meet your expectations. If the games are older, you might get away with it but you'll still want to think about future-proofing your setup.

Unfortunately, your setup is going to struggle with most modern sim racing titles. The 8GB of RAM is a big bottleneck, and the other parts are pretty dated. You might be able to play some older games in a lower resolution, but it's not going to be a great experience at 3440x1440. I’d definitely recommend upgrading your RAM, at least, but honestly, you’d be better off considering a full system upgrade for a smoother gaming experience.

Yeah, I agree. It might sound expensive, but investing in a whole new system could save you from headaches down the line.
