I'm exploring different options for optimizing our AWS spending, which is around $13,000 a month. My client is eager to find the best way to save on costs, and at first, I thought signing a commitment with a 'group buying' service might be a smart move. However, I've come across some serious concerns about transferring account ownership and risks involved, like losing access if the third-party fails to pay. I also pulled together feedback from various conversations and ran a comparison of three main solutions that promise savings without that hefty account transfer: MilkStraw AI, Archera, and Opsima. They all offer different features around commitment optimization. I'm curious if anyone has recommendations or personal experiences with these options, especially related to their onboarding processes and general effectiveness.

Have you thought about switching from on-demand to reserved instances? I found that can lead to substantial savings if you can afford the upfront costs. That might be a simpler solution than third-party services!
I’d suggest looking at NOps if you haven't already. They’ve been great for us with saving plans! But it really depends on your specific usage patterns, so consider that when deciding.
Just a heads-up, AWS is tightening the screws on these services, so keep that in mind while choosing. You don’t want any surprises down the line.
Milkstraw has some new documentation that's not working yet, so I’d tread carefully. On the other hand, Vantage is solid. They have this Autopilot feature that’s really helpful, and their fees are lower compared to others like Archera. Plus, we've noticed we get to keep more of our savings with them. Just something to consider!
Yeah, that’s a big part of my comparison with the third-party options. Definitely something I'm considering!
