Hey everyone! I'm looking to upgrade my monitor and I'm feeling quite overwhelmed by all the options out there. Currently, I've got a VA LG 27GQ50F, which is a 1920x1080 144Hz 1ms monitor. I'm running it with an i7 13700KF and a 6800XT GPU, and I've been considering moving up to 2560x1440 resolution, which seems to be a big leap in quality. I found this MSI MAG 275CQF E18 monitor on sale for about 160 euros; it's a 2560x1440 monitor with 0.5ms response time and a 180Hz refresh rate, plus it's curved (1500R) and supports 1.4 DP. I'm trying to figure out if this would be a good purchase or if I should be looking at a different option instead. Some places say 1080p is still better, while others praise 1440p. I'd really appreciate any help in understanding the specs and whether I should grab this deal or keep looking.

Definitely prioritize IPS over max resolution! You might not even notice much of a difference going up from 1080p. Personally, when I game on my 1080p monitor, I'm much more focused on gameplay rather than how sharp the graphics are.
I'd suggest going for an IPS or OLED monitor. 1440p is definitely the way to go for gaming, and that MSI monitor you found seems like a solid deal. Just make sure to check around; you might find something with even better quality if you stretch your budget a bit!
First off, size matters! For 24-27 inches, 1440p is ideal, but for anything larger, 4K is better if your system can handle it. Panel choice also matters: OLED offers the best picture but has burn-in risks and is pricier. IPS is great for fast action games with less blur, and VA is good for contrast and colors on a budget. So, if you're into competitive gaming, go with IPS. For visual stunning single-player games, VA could be a go-to.

True, but everyone sees things differently! I find 1080p really blurry now after trying 1440p. If you want refined visuals, aim for a 27" 1440p IPS, and definitely avoid curved unless it’s ultrawide!
