Hey everyone! I recently upgraded my CPU to a Ryzen 7 7800X3D and I've got a 280mm AIO cooler and a 750W power supply in my system. I'm running 32GB of DDR5 RAM on an ASROCK A620M-HDV/M.2 motherboard, and I'm currently using an RTX 4060. I'm looking to hit around 120 FPS on high settings at 1440p in modern games, but I'm not very familiar with overclocking or advanced tech stuff. I want to know if upgrading to a 5070 is a good choice for my current setup, or if I should consider a 5070 Ti or something better. I'm flexible with my budget, but I'd prefer not to spend a ridiculous amount. Also, why does everyone say you need to upgrade your specs every few years? Do you think this setup will last me 4-5 years?

Your CPU and RAM combo is solid, so don't stress about those. Just keep in mind that GPU performance can vary greatly depending on the game and settings. For up-to-date benchmarking, check out channels like Gamers Nexus or Hardware Unboxed on YouTube.
First things first, what's your budget for the GPU? I'd suggest going for something with at least 16GB of VRAM, like the RTX 5070 Ti or RX 9070 XT if you can swing it. They typically offer better performance for modern gaming than the standard 5070.
Realistically, I'd like to spend around £500-600, but I can go higher if needed. Is the Ti really worth the 50% price increase? Also, will the RX 9070 XT be compatible with my setup?
If money isn't an issue, definitely consider the 5070, but go for the speedier options if you can. It’s a solid card, but remember that waiting for the upcoming 5070 Super could be a good idea since it will have better performance and more VRAM.
Honestly, I'd recommend looking at upgrading your motherboard first. The A620 chipset doesn't support PCIe 5.0, which could limit your future upgrades. You'll probably need a stronger PSU as well when upgrading your GPU.
I'm trying to avoid a motherboard swap right now because rebuilding the PC from that prebuilt was a huge hassle for me. Is changing the board really necessary, or can I put that off?

I’m just worried that GPU prices might go crazy again. I've been holding off on upgrades since I got my PC two years ago because the 4060 doesn't perform as well as I wanted, averaging 70-90 FPS on medium-high in some demanding games.
