I'm trying to install GZDOOM but the only available packages are in .deb format. Is there a way to install GZDOOM on non-Debian-based operating systems like Fedora, Arch, or Slackware?

Have you considered using Flatpak? You can also compile GZDOOM from source. Check out the guide linked in this [source](https://zdoom.org/wiki/Compile_GZDoom_on_Linux#Fedora) for detailed steps!

In Arch, there's a good chance someone has created a package for GZDOOM already. I checked the AUR and found it's ready to install. It's better to use your package manager instead of downloading from websites, as that can lead to dependency issues.

You can use **distrobox** to run a Debian or Ubuntu container, which allows you to install .deb files. Plus, there's a Flatpak version of GZDOOM available on Flathub!

Make sure to search your distro's package catalog. For Fedora, you can use **dnf search**. Arch has **pacman -Ss** and the AUR is great. Avoid downloading directly from the author's site unless necessary.

You can technically install any package on any distro, but results can vary. I prioritize finding a version in the specific distro repository first, then check Flatpak if I can't find it. Snaps are usually my last resort.
