Advice for Setting Up a 32-Bit Linux Server on an Old Laptop

I'm looking for a suitable Linux server for an old 32-bit laptop. I've previously struggled with issues like my external keyboard not entering root admin credentials properly—sometimes it just spits out gibberish or doesn't work at all. I suspect it might be a keyboard driver issue with the distro I'm trying to install. If anyone has suggestions for a 32-bit Linux server, that would be great! I'm fine with using an older version since the laptop will only be used within my local network, so security isn't a big concern.

Are you looking for a server with or without a graphical user interface? If you're okay without one, I recommend trying Debian 12 (Bookworm). It supports 32-bit architecture until 2028. If you want a GUI, Linux Mint is a great option, but for server purposes, Debian is solid!

I actually don’t need a GUI. Just want to install a web server and control it via SSH from my main laptop. I’ll check out Debian 12, but I'm unsure how to opt for the no-GUI version.
