I've had my PC for about six years now, and I mostly play MMOs like The Elder Scrolls Online. Lately, I've been facing severe FPS drops and my PC freezes, especially in Cyrodil's PVP area. Even the audio on Discord gets choppy when that happens. I've tried numerous tweaks and settings adjustments for my graphics card, but nothing seems to work. I'm considering hardware upgrades, mainly for my motherboard and graphics card. Based on my specs, do you think that's the right move, or should I look into upgrading something else? My budget is around $1000. If you need more info about my system, just ask! Thanks for any advice! My current specs are: Intel Core i7-9700K @ 3.60 GHz, 32 GB RAM, Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070, and a Gigabyte Z370M DS3H-CF motherboard.

It sounds like your setup should be capable of handling the game without lagging. One thing to check is whether XMP is enabled in the BIOS; that can help with performance a bit. However, I don't think the GPU is the main issue here. I’d focus more on your CPU performance. Maybe something's overheating or there's a resource hog in the background.
Definitely consider that, but it might be a good idea to check for any overheating issues first!
I've enabled XMP, and I remember tweaking it in the BIOS. Do you think I should still consider upgrading the CPU?
