Hey everyone! I hope it's alright to ask about my career direction here. I've been a Graphic Designer for over a decade, but I have a background in digital design from university that included web and app design. Recently, I've found myself more and more interested in web development through doing front-end work, mostly using CMS platforms like WordPress and Drupal. However, I'm primarily employed as a designer and only occasionally get to do development work with small clients.
I really want to make coding my full-time focus. My HTML and CSS skills are pretty solid, but I'm still shaky with JavaScript, mainly using it to tweak existing code. I know there's a lot more to learn to be a full-fledged front-end developer, and I'm also considering full-stack development in the long run. Given my experience and current job situation, what's the best way for me to make this career leap? I'm curious if I should concentrate more on CMS development or dive into front-end technologies like HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, or even Node.js. Am I making a huge mistake leaving a well-paying design job for something uncertain? Any advice or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated!

To become a full-time web developer, it's essential to go beyond just knowing HTML, CSS, and a bit of JS. I recommend checking out some guided roadmaps to see what you know and what you still need to learn. Here are a couple: Frontend - https://roadmap.sh/frontend, Backend - https://roadmap.sh/backend, Fullstack - https://roadmap.sh/full-stack. Each topic has free resources too which can really help you focus your studies!

Thanks for the resources! I do get that I need more depth, hence the question about roadmaps. I've already completed the freeCodeCamp curriculum for front-end.
