How can I hide files from my Recent Documents after disconnecting my flash drive?

I'm working with a large external flash drive for my art projects, and I really need a way to prevent the files I've opened from appearing in my Recent Files list in Finder after I've disconnected the drive. It's pretty frustrating because if I accidentally click on one of those files, I get errors stating that the media is missing. Then, I have to reconnect the flash drive just to sort everything out again. Is there any way to stop these files from showing up as if they are still available once the drive is disconnected? Also, just to clarify, I'm using Windows 11.

To stop those recent files from appearing, you can adjust your privacy settings in File Explorer. Just open File Explorer by clicking the folder icon or pressing Windows + E. Then, click the three-dot menu in the top right corner and select Options. In the General tab, look for the Privacy section and uncheck "Show recently used files" and "Show frequently used folders." Apply the changes, and that should do the trick!
