How can I effectively use my smartphone camera for object detection in a warehouse?

I'm exploring ways to leverage my smartphone camera for recognizing and tracking boxes in our warehouse, where shipments go out daily. Both GPT and Claude provided insights that were somewhat similar, but I'm torn between following their common suggestions or zeroing in on one specific approach. Since most of the boxes don't have barcodes, I'm also considering developing some coding skills, although I'm quite new to that area. If you were in my situation, how would you tackle this challenge? Thanks for your input!

I’d recommend starting with barcoding the boxes. It’s definitely the simplest and most reliable solution.

That’s true, but considering the large number of boxes, it might get overwhelming!

What’s your current method for tracking inventory? I saw you mentioned that the names on the boxes could be processed for text recognition. However, that might come with its own set of challenges. Honestly, using barcodes might be the way to go, but just remember you’ll need a solid backend system in place to manage the data effectively.
