I've had my RTX 4080 Super OC for around 8 months, and lately I've noticed that the fans are constantly running at 100% while playing almost any game. I primarily game in 4K with most settings on high or max, and even though I haven't experienced any performance issues, the noise from the fans is new to me. I initially thought it was just dust buildup, so I cleaned it out, but the 100% fan speed persists, especially noticeable in WoW when I'm flying around. I've been monitoring my GPU with HWiNFO, and it shows that under load, even WoW is pushing the hotspot temperatures into the high 90's, while Battlefield 6 is peaking around 100-105°C. Is this overheating typical for 4K gaming, particularly with ray tracing on? Or could this indicate a problem with the thermal pads? By the way, my case is a Corsair 1000D, so airflow should be adequate. The regular GPU temperatures during heavy use are in the 70's to mid-80's.

If your GPU is hitting around 70°C but the hotspot is going over 100°C, that's a delta of about 30°C, which isn’t right. It shouldn’t be that high during gaming. You should definitely look into getting it checked or re-pasted.
No, that's definitely not normal. It sounds like the thermal paste on your GPU die may have dried out or is otherwise not performing well. This is a known issue with some ASUS 4000 series graphics cards. You might need to repaste it either yourself or through a warranty claim if you're eligible.
Thanks for the insight! I suspected it might be the paste, just wanted to confirm.

That's interesting. What software do you recommend for assessing GPU temperatures so accurately?
