Hey folks! I'm trying to connect a DVD drive I have at home to my Windows 11 machine, but it's not working on either my desktop or my mom's laptop. I'm using a SATA to USB adapter with an external power supply, and it works perfectly fine on my Mac mini, so I know it's not a hardware issue. However, Windows completely ignores it—no error messages or anything. I even checked the BIOS, and it recognizes the drive and can boot from it, so I'm at a loss here. What can I do to get it working on Windows 11? I've tried pretty much every solution I could find online.

What kind of DVD drive are you using? If it's a desktop drive, it might need a bit of extra configuration with Windows. Sometimes, the drivers might not be automatically recognized. You could try updating your USB drivers or checking Device Manager to see if the drive shows up there. If it does, you can try uninstalling it and then reconnecting to let Windows reinstall the drivers.
If it's recognized in the BIOS but not in Windows, it sounds like a software issue. Have you checked if Windows has the latest updates? Occasionally, newer updates fix compatibility problems with USB devices. You can also try plugging the drive into a different USB port, preferably one directly on the motherboard instead of through a hub.
