I created an iCloud account using my work email for managing a development subscription, linking it to a Google Voice number because I didn't have a work phone. Unfortunately, I lost access to that Google Voice number and now can't recover my iCloud account. I've reached out to iCloud Support, but they say I'm out of options without that phone number, despite being able to verify my work email and identity. Is there anything else I can do to recover my account, or did I just get an unhelpful support rep?

It sounds frustrating! Unfortunately, Apple really emphasizes user control over their Apple ID. They typically won't do much beyond guiding you through the recovery steps on your end. If you lose access to your recovery details, it can be tough to regain entry, especially for corporate emails. Have you checked if you can provide any proof of your account for a new ID? That might be your best bet.
If you don’t have access to that Google Voice number, you’re likely out of luck with this account. It's a good idea to set up more backup recovery options in the future, especially when using a number you don’t regularly use. Unfortunately, Apple doesn’t have mechanisms for corporations to reclaim locked email addresses either, which adds to the complication.
