Affordable 1U Rack Console Recommendations

I’m currently testing the iDRAC enterprise licensing for a virtual console. Those Tripp-Lite consoles you mentioned are a bit above my budget, though. Just to clarify, I need either three consoles for three servers or a single KVM console for all three.

I typically go for iDRAC nearly all the time, but for special cases, a laptop crash cart adapter works too. Honestly, there's not a lot of reasons to physically stand in front of a server rack for too long while booting things up.

Are you looking for multiple consoles for one physical server? If you need KVM switching, you might consider some budget options like Tripp-Lite's older models, which usually have PS/2 connectors and lower resolution. For new units, check out their 1080p HDMI models, though they might cost a bit more. During the pandemic, we switched to using HDMI/VGA-to-USB capture setups paired with separate keyboards as a makeshift system.

One of the most cost-effective solutions is to leverage the built-in management tools like iDRAC, iLO, or IPMI that come with the server. They're often good for remote access without needing additional hardware.
