Hey folks! My friend's SSD recently died, and he's looking to buy a new one. I've seen a lot of good buzz around WD SSDs, particularly the Black and Blue series, but I'm not sure which model to go for. Our top contenders are:
- WD Black SN7100 500GB
- WD Blue SN570 500GB
- WD Blue SN5000 1TB
He's primarily going to use it for booting Windows and gaming, with another SSD for regular file storage. We found the SN7100 at about the same price as the SN570, but the 1TB SN5000 is a bit pricier, though he can manage it if it's worth it. Any thoughts on which one to choose? And if you have other recommendations, feel free to share! We've heard mostly positive things about WD and want to stick with them.

I think getting the 1TB SN5000 is a smart move for extra storage. Games and Windows can take up lots of space, and having that additional capacity could really help in the long run!
I'd just go with the SN5000 and call it a day. Extra storage is always a win!
Is the extra storage really worth it for the price difference, though?
If these are all similar in specs, I'd say just pick the cheaper one. But remember, the SN7100 is a mid-range option. If it's the same price as the SN570, it might be a better deal for the 500GB capacity, right? Check the performance benchmarks if you can!
Yeah, if the prices are the same, the SN7100 could give you a bit more performance for the same capacity, so I'd go for that!

What would you suggest as a solid second choice if someone wanted to go smaller?
