I've got an RTX 3070 paired with an i7-7700k, but I feel like I'm constantly hitting a CPU bottleneck. I'm looking for suggestions on a CPU upgrade to improve my gaming experience, especially for playing at 1080p. Since I need to buy a new motherboard, the socket type isn't a concern for me!

If you want to upgrade, be prepared for a platform change. For budget-friendly options, check out the AM4 Ryzen 5600x or 5700x, or go for an Intel 12400 or 12600K. These require new motherboards and RAM, so keep that in mind. If future upgrades interest you, consider the AM5 platform like the 7600x, which offers compatibility with upcoming CPUs for at least a couple more generations!

Here’s a suggested build:
- **CPU:** AMD Ryzen 5 7600X
- **Cooler:** Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120
- **Motherboard:** ASRock B650M Pro RS Micro ATX
- **Memory:** 32GB DDR5-6000
Total cost is around $470! This setup provides great value for performance.

Any modern CPU should pair well with your RTX 3070 without causing a bottleneck. I’d recommend the Ryzen 5 9600X. It's affordable and offers solid performance for gaming.
