I'm looking for some modern alternatives to Remote Desktop Connection (RDC) because some of our admins currently use mRemoteNG, but it appears to require .NET Core 6.x, which is past its support end date. Our security team is hesitant about that. I've also been experimenting with Windows Admin Center (WAC), which allows you to log in with admin credentials, so you perform actions as an admin, not a standard user. Are there other options out there?

Have you looked into NoMachine? It's cross-platform and works well even on low bandwidth. Just keep in mind you'll need to install its service on all machines you want to access remotely. It might be worth considering based on your needs.
I actually use NoMachine daily. It's a decent alternative to RDP.
Alternatively, you might just want to stick to RDP if it meets your needs. It's pretty secure when set up properly. If you've only got a couple of admins, why not just coordinate who’s logged in?
True! RDP isn’t perfect, but it gets the job done for me.
RDCMan is still a very straightforward choice for those who want simplicity. Some folks have noted its small size and effectiveness for basic remote connections, especially if you don't need too many bells and whistles.
Right? I love that it's so lightweight compared to some of the others.
If you're comfortable with a bit of automation, you might consider RoyalTS. It’s quite user-friendly and has good automation features, especially if you manage a lot of instances. I find it very useful for our setup and reasonable in price.
I've loved RoyalTS since version 2, it's awesome!
Yes! It greatly improves our workflow with automatic triggers for new VMs.
You might want to check out Devolutions Remote Desktop Manager. It's super versatile and has a free version for solo use! It supports multiple protocols like RDP, SSH, and VNC, and it integrates well with security tools, making it secure for your needs. I've been using it for years and love it.
Totally agree! Devolutions RDM is solid.
I've been using it for a decade, and the features are great, though I find account creation a bit annoying.

NoMachine is a classic! I used it ages ago for multi-OS setups.
