I'm debating whether to keep using my Intel Core i5-10400 or upgrade it. I've had this CPU for about four years, and I'm unsure how long they typically last. I'm trying to build a new system for around $600, and I plan to keep my 32 GB of RAM. I could really use some help with recommendations for a GPU, motherboard, CPU cooler, and PSU that fit well with my current CPU and budget. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

It sounds like you're in a tough spot! Since you're keeping the i5-10400 and RAM, upgrading the motherboard might not be necessary unless yours is damaged. However, considering your cooler is deteriorating and you've noticed higher temps, investing in a new CPU cooler could really help maintain performance. If you really want to max out your build, try to focus your budget on a solid GPU since that will make the biggest difference in gaming or other heavy workloads.
You might want to consider skipping the motherboard upgrade if you don’t need extra features. Just get a decent cooler to keep your temps down; a budget one should work as long as you manage airflow. For the GPU, maybe look into some used options too; you can find great deals that’ll pair well with your CPU and keep you within budget.
Thanks for the tips! I was considering used parts to stretch the budget further. Any suggestions on where to look?

Definitely keep your CPU if it’s doing okay! Just make sure the cooler you choose offers good airflow. A few budget-friendly GPUs you could consider are the GTX 1660 Super or an RX 6500 XT, which should fit nicely within your budget.
