Should I Upgrade from RTX 4060 8GB to 9060XT 16GB for Better Performance?

I'm thinking about upgrading my graphics card from the RTX 4060 with 8GB of VRAM to the 9060XT with 16GB. The 4060 is struggling in recent games, and I often have to rely on upscaling and frame generation. I want to play at 1080p with ultra settings and really boost my raw performance. With my CPU being a Ryzen 7 5700X3D, would this upgrade be worth it?

Upgrading to the 9060XT should give you about 35% more frames at 1080p on ultra settings, which isn't too shabby for $350. That said, it might be smarter to aim for something even better like the 5070 or 9070, since those offer around 70% more performance for around $500.

Yeah, I see your point about waiting for that higher tier. My budget's a bit tight right now, though.

In my region, the 5070 is super overpriced; I found the 9060XT for $400, which feels like a better deal.

Is the 4060 actually struggling at 1080p? It seems to have aged quicker than expected, considering how recent it is.

Not surprising, honestly. It wasn't the strongest out there when it was released.

Yeah, tech moves fast, and the 4060 has been hit hard by newer demanding titles.

Honestly, going from the 4060 to the 9060XT feels like stepping up to a 3070ti but gaining 16GB of VRAM. It's better, but you might just want to wait a generation for a more substantial upgrade.

In my opinion, the 9060XT upgrade isn't worth it. Sure, it offers some improvement, but the 9070XT would be the real deal. That said, it comes at a higher cost, so it depends on your budget.

While the 9060XT is significantly faster than the 4060, it’s not a night-and-day difference. If VRAM is your struggle, then the upgrade would help. Otherwise, waiting for a more significant upgrade could be worth considering.

Totally agree, if you're not in a hurry, it might be smart to hold out for the next gen or more powerful cards.

I think the 9070 would be more future-proof if you can swing it.

If you want a meaningful performance increase, you should really look into the 9070XT or the 5070ti. They're more expensive but could be a solid investment for the long run.

TechWhiz88 -

Exactly! If the prices are close, go for the 5070ti instead.

That's good advice; I'm definitely considering that route.
