I just bought a brand new 5070ti graphics card and I'm using a Toughpower GF1 850W power supply. Everything I've read indicates that this setup should be compatible. However, the GPU came with this odd 3x8 PCIe adapter that I'm not sure how to handle. Previously, I had a 3060 that only required two 6x2 cables from the PSU. Do I need to get a new adapter or perhaps a new PSU? Can I just plug the two 6x2 cables into any of the ports on this adapter?

It sounds like you might be able to use those two 6x2 cables with the adapter, but it's a bit risky. Ideally, you should have a proper third PCIe cable. You could either find a different 5070ti that only needs two cables or consider upgrading to a PSU that comes with more PCIe cables.
I hear you! I haven't fully taken my PSU out either, and I think I'm in the same boat with just the two 6x2 cables from one modular cable.

Yeah, if you're missing that third cable, just buy a new one. Your PSU is modular, so you can connect it without hassle!
