Which GPU should I choose for 1080p gaming with my current setup?

I've got a medium PC setup with an RTX 4060 (8GB OC) and an i5 12400F, plus 32GB of 3200 RAM. I mostly game at 1080p, but I'm noticing my GPU sometimes struggles with newer titles, like BF6. I'm considering upgrading to an AMD RX 9060 XT, but I want to avoid going with NVIDIA this time due to the high prices. Should I stick with the GPU upgrade, or would it make more sense to upgrade my CPU instead?

If you're looking to boost performance in BF6 specifically, getting a Ryzen 5 9600X or a Ryzen 7 7700 could provide a significant improvement. For GPU upgrades, the RX 9070XT might offer a solid leap in performance. It all comes down to what you're willing to spend and what will best balance your setup.

Honestly, the best approach is often to upgrade your GPU first and see how it performs. Sometimes, just having a capable GPU is enough to handle most games well, without needing an expensive CPU upgrade. A 60XT should work nicely for you.

BF6 is pretty CPU-intensive, so if you're only focusing on the GPU, you might not see a huge difference in performance. I’d recommend checking out some benchmarks or reviews, like the one from Hardware Unboxed. They tested various GPUs and CPUs with the game, and it might give you some clarity on what to upgrade first.

Before you make a decision, think about what kind of frame rates and graphics settings you're aiming for in BF6. That can really help pinpoint what needs upgrading first.

If you’re leaning towards AMD, the RX 9060XT (16GB) or even the 9070/9070XT would be solid options. After getting a new GPU, you can always assess your CPU needs based on how your gaming performance changes.

Just curious, have you checked your GPU utilization while playing BF6? That could tell you if it's actually your GPU that's falling short.
