Why is my Zotac Solid Core OC 5080 clocking at 2800MHz out of the box?

I just got my Zotac Solid Core OC 5080 and noticed it's running at 2800MHz, which is higher than the spec of 2640MHz. I haven't done any overclocking yet. Is this normal, or did I just get lucky? I'm also curious about the VRAM clock speed—I'm seeing 15000MHz and someone mentioned it should be 1875MHz. What's going on here?

The 'OC' in the model name stands for factory overclocked, so your GPU is expected to have higher clock speeds than the standard model. According to Gamer's Nexus, it's designed to run between 2790 and 2842 MHz, which means your performance is totally in line with what you'd expect!

Thanks for the clarification! I guess I shouldn't worry about the higher clock speed then. By the way, I'm confused about the VRAM; I thought it should be around 1875MHz, but I'm seeing different numbers.

Yeah, Zotac probably just built in some extra performance. Those specs can be a bit misleading sometimes.

New drivers have really boosted performance and the card is allowed to hit higher speeds within its thermal and voltage limits. As for your silicon's potential, you'll need to overclock to fully test its limits. The 2800MHz is still on the conservative side, though.

Thanks! I'll definitely try a safe overclock soon.
