Hey everyone! I'm new to the Linux world and considering switching from Windows 11, mainly because I value privacy and want to free up some RAM on my Lenovo Ideapad gaming 3. I use my laptop primarily for reading lecture notes, torrenting games, and downloading music. I've been looking at Linux Mint and think it might suit my needs well since I don't have important files to keep and most of my apps have Linux alternatives. My question is: can I run .exe files from the games I've torrented on Linux Mint?

For the apps you mentioned, here's what you can use:
- Mp3tag → puddletag
- spek → Spek
- qBittorrent → Transmission or Deluge
- WinDirStat → Disk Usage Analyzer
- obsidian → Obsidian
That should keep you covered on the app front!

Nice, thanks for the alternatives!

There's a compatibility layer for Windows games on Linux known as Proton. You should check out ProtonDB to see if your games can run on it. It's a great resource for finding compatibility information!

You can definitely run .exe files on Linux, but not directly. Since you mentioned torrenting, I assume the games are ready to play. Tools like Lutris or Heroic Game Launcher can help you manage and play Windows games on Linux. Just keep in mind that Wine simulates Windows to run your games.
