What Resources Can Help a Beginner in Web Development?

I'm currently a college student majoring in web development, but I feel like I've hardly learned anything useful. I tried looking for help on another forum and watched some YouTube videos on Python and Visual Basic. However, as a total beginner, I struggle to find ways to practice the basics. My professor isn't very helpful, and the resources provided are outdated and not beginner-friendly. I really want to improve my skills, but I'm feeling lost after my first semester. Can anyone recommend some better resources or strategies to help me get started?

First off, what are your goals in learning? Are you leaning towards Python for backend development? If game and web development are your interests, I'd suggest focusing on Python and maybe branching into newer languages once you grasp the basics. Just so you know, Visual Basic is becoming less common in the industry, so that's something to keep in mind.

If you're diving into web development, I recommend checking out The Odin Project. It offers a comprehensive curriculum that's great for beginners. Focus on that for a bit before adding other languages to the mix. Instead of switching to another language too quickly, consider learning about modern tools and frameworks like Vite and Node. They play a huge role in web development, and there aren't many resources dedicated to them. Once you feel comfortable, then tackle core topics like HTTP protocols and deployment practices.
