I have an Android smartphone (S23+) where I saved a bunch of important videos for work. Unfortunately, my roommate deleted most of those videos from my Google Photos trash bin, and they're not showing up in any other trash bin I checked. I've done my best to ask around and searched online, but every guide I found just leads me to instructions on how to recover files from a trash bin, which isn't helpful since they're already gone. Is there any way to recover these deleted files? I really need them back and recreating them is getting exhausting. Thanks!

Unfortunately, if you've emptied the trash on your Android device, those files are typically gone for good. Android uses flash memory that implements a feature called TRIM, which permanently wipes data not long after it's deleted. So recovering files deleted from the trash bin isn’t usually possible.
Have you checked if those files were backed up in the Cloud or Google Drive? Sometimes, videos and photos might automatically back up, which can save you from this situation. Always a good idea to keep your important files backed up!
Check with Google support to see if they can assist you in recovering those videos through Google Photos. They might have some solutions or tools to help.
If you’re willing to pay for an app, some of them can sometimes recover lost data, but I’d advise being cautious. Many apps don't have great reviews. You might have better luck with professional data recovery services if it's that critical.
If it was just pictures, you might be able to restore some thumbnails, but for videos and other formats, I think you're out of luck. It's a tough lesson learned about the temporary nature of the trash bin.
