I'm currently using a Ryzen 7 2700x combined with a GeForce RTX 3080 and air cooling. While I've never had significant CPU issues, I've encountered performance problems with Battlefield 6, struggling to run it even on low settings despite trying some tweaks. With the release of this game making me think about upgrading, what CPU would pair best with my 3080 for a better gaming experience? It's worth mentioning that I have an AM4 socket motherboard and would prefer to keep it rather than switch to liquid cooling.

You might want to check out the 5800XT and utilize its cooler. It's a good boost in performance, and I've seen a deal on Newegg that includes a nice mouse, which is pretty tempting at that price point!
I'd recommend the 5800x3d as the best option for your setup. It's the top-tier choice for AM4 that really shines in gaming performance.
Just a heads up, I think the 5800x3d isn't being produced anymore, so you'd likely need to go secondhand. The 5700x3d is a solid and cheaper alternative that can still be picked up new, and it's not that much worse—around 10% less performance than the 5800x3d.
Both the 5700x3d and 5800x3d are great gaming CPUs, but their prices have skyrocketed lately, making them less worthwhile. Instead of dropping that cash on one of those, it might be wiser to invest in upgrading to AM5 for a longer lifespan. However, if you're looking for something budget-friendly, the standard 5700x and 5800x models still deliver solid performance and can often be found for under $150.
Are the 3D models really necessary for just gaming, or are they more about future-proofing? If it's the latter, I might consider moving to AM5 instead.

Would switching to that lead to a noticeable improvement in my gaming experience? I’ve got my eye on those deals.
