Hi everyone! I'm working on a project to create an all-in-one study website for my school. It will feature a large library of past papers, textbooks, and resources, and I want to integrate AI throughout the site. For example, I envision an AI chatbox next to YouTube lessons where students can ask questions, and a full study assistant section where they can inquire about anything, similar to a personal tutor.
Here's the twist: I want to train this AI using specific resources like my school's textbooks and past exam papers, but I can't afford any costs and also can't run anything on my own server. I'm in search of:
- A free AI that allows me to train it with my own data.
- A free API that's simple to integrate into a website.
Basically, I'm aiming to develop a free version of something like NotebookLM designed for educational purposes. Does anyone know of any resources or options that might help? Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

You're definitely going to need to invest some money if you want to create something like this. There might be some freemium services, but completely free options are pretty limited, especially for what you want to train it to do.
Wow, what a neat project! I don’t have any technical advice, but I’m definitely curious to see what others suggest. Don't let the negativity get you down, though—keep pushing for this idea!
Just a heads up: studies suggest using AI tools for learning can be counterproductive. If you're looking into this, it might be worth considering how it impacts students' learning processes before fully diving in. I have to be honest, but it sounds like a tough challenge. Realistically, creating a robust AI that can be trained with custom data comes with costs—especially regarding the computational resources required. Usually, the processing and training need significant investment in GPUs and electricity, which is a major roadblock if you're looking for a free solution.
Thanks for the support! I appreciate it, even if the feedback isn't the best right now.
