Help with Installing Linux Mint on My Laptop

I'm having a tough time getting Linux Mint to install on my LG LW60 Express laptop. I flashed what I thought was an official version of Linux Mint onto a USB drive using Etcher, but when I try to boot from it, the computer goes straight to Windows. I've set my boot order to prioritize removable devices, followed by the CD/DVD drive and then the HDD. Can anyone suggest what I might be doing wrong or how to get it to boot from the USB? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It sounds like Etcher could be the culprit, as many people have faced issues with it. I recommend trying either Ventoy or Rufus for creating your bootable USB. Also, don't forget to disable fast startup in Windows, as that can sometimes interfere with booting from USB drives.

If your laptop is really old, like the specs suggest, it might only run a 32-bit version of Linux. Since recent versions of Linux Mint require a 64-bit processor, I’d recommend looking for a 32-bit distro instead. Also, double-check that the ISO file you downloaded is intact, and maybe try a different USB drive if it still doesn't work.

Have you checked with efibootmgr to see if Linux is listed in your EFI settings? Sometimes the system doesn't register the Linux installation for startup, which can cause it to skip booting from the USB.

For creating your installer, consider using a Yumi or Ventoy external drive instead of just a flash stick. I find using old SATA SSDs works better for bootable installations.
