Help! My iPhone Insurance Claim Was Denied—What Can I Do?

I had my iPhone stolen from my back pocket in the early morning hours. I quickly submitted a claim because I have AppleCare, but it got rejected. They said that 'Find My iPhone' was not enabled at the time I made the claim. However, I can still see my stolen phone in my Find My iPhone account, and it shows that it's switched on! I'm at a loss about how to prove it was on when the phone was taken. Has anyone been through something similar or know how to provide proof? I don't think my Apple ID was hacked, but the thieves did turn off the device, which is why it stopped showing up on Find My Friends.

I would recommend calling Apple directly to see if they can confirm that Find My iPhone was activated in their records. There could be an issue with the serial number or something else in their system that needs clarification.

Have you reached out to AIG for proof that Find My iPhone was enabled? They might need this to reconsider your claim. If you can show it’s currently on, that could help, but it's useful to get their exact requirements too.

I don’t have a screenshot to prove it was on at the exact moment, only that it’s currently enabled. They also wanted me to show if someone accessed my Apple ID, but I’ve had no signs of that. It seems the thieves just went after my bank accounts.

You mentioned it’s showing up in Find My iPhone. Is it in lost mode? If it’s not marked as lost, that could be a reason for the rejection.

Yes, I put it in lost mode as soon as I realized it was missing, but they might have erased it afterwards.
