I'm currently using a ROG Strix B550-F Gaming WiFi II motherboard with a 1TB SSD for games and a 500GB SSD for my Windows system and some other files. Both of my M.2 slots are occupied, but my 1TB drive is almost full. I'm considering adding a Samsung 990 Pro 2TB SSD, but I'm not sure how to manage this since I've already used both M.2 slots. I've looked into PCIe adapters, but I've heard they could slow down the drive. My setup also includes a Gigabyte AMD Radeon RX 7600 GPU and a Ryzen 7 5700X CPU. Can anyone suggest a reliable solution?

One option is to get a SATA drive. They're typically more affordable and can give you additional storage without the speed of M.2. If your data isn't critically speed-dependent, this might be a good way forward.
An easier fix is to just add a 2.5" SATA SSD. They won't be as fast as M.2 drives, but they'll still perform adequately for most tasks, including gaming, as long as you're not too demanding on speed.
You could either invest in an adapter for an M.2 SSD or consider selling your existing drives to buy a larger 2TB or 4TB SSD. If you're primarily looking for storage, think about getting a larger SATA HDD for your media files, as those can offer significant space without breaking the bank.
Definitely recommend a SATA SSD if you're running out of M.2 slots. They can still be pretty quick and should work fine for everyday tasks. Just keep in mind it won't match the read/write speeds of the M.2s.
