I'm considering switching my old, slow machine to Linux Mint since it can't upgrade to Windows 11, and there's a lot of unnecessary clutter on it. I have a few options in mind:
1) Just install Linux Mint on the current system as it is.
2) Roll back Windows 10 to its factory settings before installing Mint.
3) Completely remove Windows and install only Mint.
I'd love to hear any thoughts or resources you might have on this! Also, if I do a factory reset on Windows 10, will it automatically load all the past updates again, or just keep it clean?

I say go for option 3! When you install Mint, you'll be given the choice to wipe your hard drive completely, which will remove Windows altogether. Just make sure to back up your important files first because this will erase everything.
Another idea is to boot from a USB drive and completely rewrite the hard drive. It's a straightforward way to ensure that everything's fresh and ready for Mint!
Rolling back to factory settings is a solid option too, but if you're looking for a clean slate, just install Mint straight over it. No need for that Windows clutter!
I agree! A fresh install can save you a lot of headaches later on.

Definitely back everything up! It's super easy to lose data when you're messing around with the OS.
