I'm thinking about upgrading my CPU from the Ryzen 5800X to something on the AM5 platform. I found a used R9 7900 for $200 nearby and I'm wondering if I should just buy it now or hold off a bit longer so I can afford a 7800X3D instead. My main focus is gaming, but I do some streaming as well. What do you think?

What's your primary use for the PC? If you’re gaming, moving from a 5800X to a 7900X isn’t a huge leap performance-wise. The 7900 will not blow you away for gaming compared to the 5800X, really. If you're mainly gaming, I’d recommend holding out for the 7800X3D as it's better optimized for gaming and should give you more bang for your buck in the long run.

I’m mostly gaming, but I also stream sometimes, so I need something that handles both. That’s why I’m looking at upgrades.
