I'm curious if I can take my 3.5" HDD, which doesn't have the operating system on it, and plug it into another computer to access my Turbo Tax return. The new PC has three open SATA ports, so moving it seems easy. It would save me a lot of time compared to re-entering all my information. Will my Turbo Tax and other programs still work after the move?

You can definitely access your files like Turbo Tax returns, but programs that need to be installed won't run just by moving the hard drive. Turbo Tax isn’t portable, so it's best to save your return to a USB drive or as a PDF. Reinstall the Turbo Tax software on the new PC to access your tax files afterward.
Yeah, it should work fine! Just make sure both computers are off before you move the hard drive. Once it’s plugged in, you’ll have everything in no time.
Your data will be intact for sure, but any applications installed on that drive might not work on the new system. There are exceptions, but generally, it’s safer to reinstall the software on the new PC.
