Hi everyone! My HDD is failing, and I just got my hands on a new SSD. I'm looking for recommendations on cloning software that works for both Linux and Windows, since I'm dual-booting. I'm open to sacrificing my Linux installation if it helps clone my Windows OS. I haven't done this before, so any tips or guidance would be greatly appreciated! I prefer free software options if possible. Thanks!

If you're looking for a straightforward solution, I’d recommend buying a dedicated drive cloner. They usually cost around $10 to $20 on Amazon and they make the process super easy, especially if both your drives are SATA.
You could try Macrium Reflect for Windows or Clonezilla which is free and works well for Linux systems too.
Macrium Reflect (the free version) is still a solid choice, but be aware it’s no longer being updated, so you’ll need to get it from a trusted source. It also lets you resize partitions before reimaging which can be really handy.
If you're comfortable with Linux, you could plug in the SSD, boot into Linux, and use tools like Clonezilla to clone your drives. This avoids modifying the file system while you copy everything. Just remember to back up anything important before you dive in!
A bootable USB with Hiren's Tools is a great option! It has cloning software, and you can clone specific partitions instead of the whole disk if you need to. Just make sure to play around with your partitions using GParted to create enough space first.

Yeah, definitely check if they are SATA first; that info is usually on the drives or their packaging.
