Hey everyone! I recently upgraded my PC and I'm dealing with a frustrating issue where my new AMD Ryzen 5 5600X CPU keeps overheating. Here's a quick rundown of my old setup: it was an Omen 25L pre-built with some basic specs like an Intel i5-10400 and its stock fan. Now, I've switched to an Omen 25L case (just the case), an MSI B550M Pro-VHD Wifi motherboard, an RTX 3060 Ti, and I've added 32GB of DDR4 RAM.
I've installed the new CPU using its stock fan, secured it well, and applied a pea-sized drop of thermal paste as recommended. According to my BIOS, the CPU idle temp is around 55°C. However, when I tried playing Arma Reforger, which my old build handled just fine, my PC crashed and I got a CPU overheat warning when I restarted. It showed temps around 80°C. My friend who previously owned this CPU used a water cooling setup, but I can't afford that right now. So, I'm hoping to find a solution without needing to buy new gear. Any advice?

It sounds like your case might not have good airflow, which could definitely be causing your overheating issues. Make sure your fans are set up correctly. If you only have one case fan, it should ideally be set to exhaust air out of the case. Also, try checking if you've removed any protective stickers from the cooler, as that can interfere with heat dissipation. If it still overheats, consider running your PC with the case side panel off to see if that helps—if it does, then airflow is definitely the issue.
Don't forget to double-check your cooler mount. It might seem sturdy, but if it's not making good contact with the CPU, that can raise temps as well. If you're already running with the side panel off and it still overheats, you might want to consider adding another case fan if that's feasible. Some extra airflow can work wonders!
