I'm looking to upgrade my SSD and I'm torn between two options: the WD_BLACK 2TB SN850X priced at around $164 and the Samsung Evo 990 Pro 2TB for about $202. My work primarily involves graphic design and AI local image generation (using ComfyUI), and I might also dive into some video editing. Which of these SSDs would be the better choice for my needs?

I recommend going for the WD_BLACK. The performance is pretty similar overall, and it could save you some cash. Just make sure your motherboard can handle it without an extra heatsink if that's a concern.
Both the WD_BLACK SN850X and the Samsung Evo 990 Pro are top-tier PCIe 4.0 drives. Honestly, there's not a huge difference in performance between them, so you might as well go with the cheaper option.
Don't forget that the Samsung Evo 990 Pro comes with a heatsink, while the WD_BLACK does not, which could account for some of that price difference.
I'd say choose the SN850X, especially if you don't want to deal with the price hike for the heatsink on the Samsung. If your motherboard lacks cooling, you can always add a third-party heatsink later.
Good point! But if the slot has a heatsink already, it might make sense to consider the Samsung.

Right! If your motherboard doesn't have a built-in heatsink, you could always grab an aftermarket one like the Arctic M2 Pro.
