Hey everyone! I'm making the switch to Linux and I'm really excited about it. I've spent all day learning and I'm ready to dive in. But I've hit a bit of a snag: I'm planning to dual boot, but I don't have a flash drive or any external storage to use for the installation. Is there a way to directly install from the ISO file stored on my internal hard drive? If anyone has tips or instructions on how to do this, I would really appreciate it. Thanks a bunch!

Honestly, the best solution is to just get a USB drive. They’re super cheap and you can use them for other stuff later, too. Anything else you try might just lead to more headaches, so it's worth it to grab one.
For sure, I've seen them even at gas stations! Just get one and make it easy.
You could also check out this GitHub project that allows you to install Linux from Windows without a USB. Just keep in mind it only supports certain versions and requires admin access along with disabling secure boot.
Another option could be using something like Netbootxyz, which lets you boot directly from the internet for the Linux installation. Just make sure your network is set up for that.
If you have Windows, you can actually use a tool called Diskpart to help with the installation process. There’s a video tutorial online that makes it look really easy!
If you're really set on avoiding a USB, you might want to consider burning the ISO to a DVD. But seriously, I still think grabbing a USB would be the simplest route.
Yeah, I agree! You can usually find thumb drives at any store. They’re handy to have around.
