I'm planning to upgrade from my i3-12100F and I need some guidance on whether to go for the i5-12400F or the i5-14400F. There's about a $50 price difference here in South Africa, and I'm also looking to buy RAM and a monitor. Would it be worth it to shell out for the 14400F, or should I just stick with the 12400F? Here are the prices I found: i5-12400F is $144, while the i5-14400F is $196.

Have you thought about the i5-13400F? If it's priced lower than the 14400F, it could be a solid pick.
If you're involved in video editing or 3D work regularly, the 14400F, with its extra four cores, is a better investment. If your main use is casual gaming and coding, the 12400F will save you some cash without a massive performance hit.
I'll mainly be using it for gaming and coding, so maybe the 12400F makes more sense for me.
With just a $50 difference, I'd say go with the 12400F. It offers good performance for gaming without breaking the bank.

Actually, the 13400F is pricier than the 14400F here, likely because the 14400F is on sale!
