Hey everyone! I recently upgraded my graphics card to an RX 9070 XT, but I'm starting to feel like my PC is lagging a bit behind. I currently have a Ryzen 5 5700X, B550M motherboard, and 32GB of DDR4 RAM. I use my PC for work primarily but do some gaming on the side, mostly single-player on a 3440x1440p 144Hz screen, so I'm not focused on achieving super high FPS. I'm considering upgrading my CPU, and I've found a good deal for a Ryzen 7 9700X at about €250. However, I'm totally lost when it comes to choosing a motherboard—there are so many options like B650, B650E, X670, X670E, etc. I want something with decent features but don't need any over-the-top extras. Any recommendations? Thanks!

Honestly, if you're going to change platforms, you might want to look at the Ryzen 7 7800X3D or the 7900X3D. However, if you're thinking about sticking with your current setup, the 5700X3D could be a solid upgrade. I've noticed some good 7800X3D and mobo combos at Micro Center if that’s an option for you.
I hear you on the 9800X3D being overkill, especially if gaming isn't your main focus. According to TechPowerUp, the 9700X really does seem to outperform the 7800X3D in certain situations. It’s all about what you really need, right?
