I'm a fan of using Siri every now and then, but I've noticed that when I trigger it, I have to tap the microphone to start speaking. Is there any way to make it so that Siri defaults to the voice input option instead of requiring me to click the mic every time?

Unfortunately, I've found that Siri primarily defaults to listening for text input, so it won't automatically switch to voice unless you tap the mic. It would definitely be more convenient if we could set that preference.
It sounds like you're running into the text input mode. After you activate Siri, try speaking without tapping the mic. If you're still needing to tap it, there doesn't seem to be a way to set it to always use voice input by default. It's mostly just how it works right now.
