I'm looking to set up a modded Minecraft server using an old ASUS Transformer AiO PC that I have lying around. I want to know which Linux distribution would run the server most effectively, considering performance and stability. I've heard Ubuntu is beginner-friendly, but I'm open to suggestions if there's a better option that would support the server's needs without sacrificing too much performance.

Honestly, pretty much any Linux distro can work well for this. I've been running a Minecraft server through Docker on Ubuntu Server for years and it’s been solid. If you're comfortable with using the terminal, you should be good to go!

If you're not attached to having a GUI, Debian is highly recommended. It's stable, trustworthy, and just gets the job done without any fuss. Perfect for a headless server setup!

Totally agree! I've been using Debian for months now on a similar setup and it runs beautifully.
