What to Do if I Accidentally Clicked a Malicious Link on My iPhone?

Hey everyone, I really need some assistance! While browsing Instagram, I clicked a link in someone's bio that I thought was safe, but it redirected me to a site that seems malicious. I acted quickly by closing the tab, clearing the cache and cookies from both Instagram's built-in browser and Safari, and even restarted my iPhone. I also added the link to my adblocker's blocklist. Various safety checks, including Succuri and VirusTotal, indicated that this site is indeed malicious, though something about the SHA-256 didn't show any malware. My iPhone is running the latest software (iOS 26.1) and I use a VPN. Right now, it's on airplane mode because I'm so worried. Am I at risk? What steps can I take to keep my iPhone secure?

I think you're safe after taking those actions! You didn't interact with the site or download anything, which is good. Just keep an eye out for any unusual behavior on your device. It’s always smart to check your settings occasionally for any unexpected changes. But you’ve done everything right so far!

If you closed the page immediately and cleared your browser data, you should be fine! iPhones have decent security, and you generally need to do more than just visit a website to get infected—like downloading something or giving the site permissions. Make sure to check your downloads folder, just in case anything slipped through, but otherwise, it sounds like you took all the right precautions. Don't stress too much; you're likely okay.
