I'm curious if there's a way to take the phone number from a caller ID and verify whether that line is busy while I'm still on the call. I've heard that scammers can spoof phone numbers that aren't actually in use, and if the number isn't showing a busy signal while I'm supposedly talking to it, that's likely a sign of a scam. Is there a way to code an app that could check this caller's status?

Unfortunately, it seems that's not possible. Phone companies don't share that kind of data. They know the actual number that's being used, but they just won't disclose it.
Isn't there a way for an app to make a separate call to the number in question? There’s no physical connection between calls, so why wouldn't they allow that? It seems odd that phone companies would prefer to annoy paying customers and give scammers a free pass. What’s their logic behind that?
