What upgrades should I consider for switching to a 1440p monitor?

I'm planning to sell my current 1080p 144Hz monitor and move to a 1440p 90Hz screen since I'm shifting from competitive gaming to mostly single-player titles. I'd like to know what I should upgrade in my PC build to accommodate this change. Here are my specs:

- CPU: Ryzen 5 3600
- Motherboard: Asus B550M-K
- GPU: RX 6600
- RAM: 16 GB dual-channel, DDR4 3200MT/s CL16
- PSU: 600W

I consider myself a novice when it comes to PC building, and most of my friends aren't very knowledgeable either. I'd appreciate any advice or opinions on what to upgrade first or if there's anything else I should consider!

First off, grab that new monitor! After that, consider upgrading your GPU and maybe even your PSU if you plan to go for something stronger. The RX 6600 should still hold its own well in many games at 1440p, especially if you tweak the settings a bit.

You might also want to consider adding another 16GB of RAM. It's pretty cheap right now, and upgrading to 32GB can make a noticeable difference at 1440p in some games. For now, the RX 6600 is decent, but if you find performance lacking, an upgrade to a GPU like the 7800XT could be a good step later on.

Honestly, 1080p at 144Hz is great, but if you're set on going 1440p, focus on finding a monitor that has at least 165Hz. That way, when you do decide to upgrade your GPU later, you're not held back by a lower refresh rate. What's your budget like for the new monitor?
