Hey everyone! I'm currently building my first PC and I'm trying to decide between the RTX 5070 Ti and the 9070 XT. The prices for both cards are pretty similar right now, so I'm considering a few factors before making my choice. My goals are: 1) to play single-player games at 1440p with high to max graphics settings, possibly including ray tracing; 2) future-proofing for the years to come; and 3) understanding how each card performs in terms of cooling so I can select compatible cooling solutions and cases. I'm planning to use a Ryzen 7600x CPU for my build and I'm located in Canada. I'd appreciate any insights or advice you might have. Thanks!

Having switched from the 9070 XT to the 5070 Ti, I can share a bit of insight. First off, the 5070 Ti is just a stronger card overall, especially at 1440p. It struggles a bit less when maxing out demanding games, and for path tracing, the 5070 Ti can significantly outperform the 9070 XT. On the cooler side, while both cards have a similar TDP, the 9070 XT tends to draw more power under load. Just make sure to pick a good cooler; not all models perform the same!
I’ve found the same thing about power draw. The 5070 Ti often stays below 250 watts, whereas the 9070 XT can spike over 300 easily, which can mean higher temps. So it definitely runs cooler overall under load conditions. Also, avoid any 9070 XT versions that share cooling designs with the 5070 Ti, since those often won't handle the heat as well.
Honestly, you should choose the cheaper option. As for future proofing, who knows how things will shake out with the evolving tech? DLSS seems to have the upper hand right now, but if AMD steps it up, the game could change. For the cooler question, that's more dependent on your case and what cooling system you pick than simply the brand. But again, if prices are the same, I'd pick the 5070 Ti.
If we're looking at similar prices, I'd lean towards the RTX 5070 Ti. It has a clear edge with DLSS support, which is more advantageous for future games compared to AMD's FSR. Plus, NVIDIA tends to support their cards longer. I've been using one with an undervolt, and it runs cool at 65°C while playing demanding games at 1440p, pushing over 180 fps! While the 9070 XT is a solid option, the 5070 Ti seems like a smarter long-term investment, especially considering ray tracing will only gain importance over time.
Definitely! Ray tracing will matter more down the line, so it's smart to consider that.
I'd also go with the 5070 Ti for better ray tracing performance. Both cards have a TDP of around 300 watts, so they'll produce similar heat overall. However, the actual temperature can vary based on your cooling solution. Generally, the bigger 3-slot models tend to be quieter and cooler. So make sure to check the specs of the model you choose for the best performance and cooling!
Interesting points! Just out of curiosity, do you have any recommended cooling setups for these cards?
Yeah, cooler design and airflow of your case can make a big difference!

Thanks for the info! That really helps in making a decision.
