Is it normal for my first eCommerce website to take 6 months to build?

Hey everyone! I just wrapped up my first ever eCommerce website, and it's built using Nodes, Next.js, MongoDB, and Tailwind CSS. It took me about 6 months to complete, and I'm wondering if that timeline seems typical. I often see others claiming they can whip up websites in just a month, which makes me question my progress. Here are some of the features I included: an order management system, a promotions setup, an analytics dashboard (with Google Analytics and other database insights), NextAuth authentication, cart management, a wishlist, self-hosted object storage, shipping management, payment gateway integration, and all with a responsive design optimized for SEO. However, I didn't include some basic eCommerce functionalities like product variants, categories, and search. Is this time frame considered reasonable for what I achieved?

Honestly, it sounds like you've built an impressive web app! The 6-month timeline isn't unusual, especially for a first project. There's a lot to learn along the way, and building something comprehensive like this takes time. Plus, now that you have this experience, your next projects might go a lot faster!

That's true! It's all about experience, right? Getting faster with practice is definitely the goal.

If you're part-time and learning as you go, 6 months makes sense! Most people don’t realize that building something functional from scratch involves a lot of trial and error. You're gaining skills that will definitely speed you up on future projects!

Congrats on finishing! For context, I've been working on my own project for around 11 months now, and it’s open-source. You can check it out here: [https://github.com/nuvix-tech/nuvix](https://github.com/nuvix-tech/nuvix). It takes time, but the journey is worth it!
