Is Now a Good Time to Build a PC?

I'm thinking about putting together a new PC, but I'm seeing some high prices on components like DDR5 RAM and certain graphics cards. I'm not in a rush to get this done, but I'd love to hear opinions on whether prices might drop in the next few months to a year. Specifically, do you think DDR5 RAM will become more affordable and more standard, and what about the upcoming RTX 50 SUPER? Will it be worth a lot, or is now the time to pull the trigger?

Aside from the RAM situation, I'd say it's actually not a bad time to build. You can find a lot of GPUs for under their suggested retail prices. Sure, DDR5 RAM is pricey, but if you're putting together a $1500 system, an extra $100 for RAM isn’t a huge deal.

I’d say the situation is not the best but not the worst either. DDR5 prices are inflated now, but they might normalize next year. It's a good idea to consider used RAM as an option. On the bright side, prices for case and cooling solutions are great right now, and SSDs and power supplies have been stable too. As for the RTX 50 SUPER, waiting for new hardware often doesn't pay off, especially with the high demand for Nvidia chips.

Honestly, the best time to start building is when you have the budget and know what you want. Don’t get too hung up on price drops unless you have a reliable source for when they might happen. Plus, look into places that accept old graphics cards for trade-ins. I turned in an older card at Microcenter last week and upgraded nicely!
