I'm in the process of building a new computer and just installed what I thought was an RTX 5090. However, when I check my system specs, it displays as an RTX 5080. I also checked with GPU-Z and it confirms that it's showing as a 5080 as well, even though both the card and the box say they're 5090. What could be going on here?

It sounds like there could be a software glitch, but honestly, I'd double-check to make sure you actually received a 5090. Scamming can happen, so it's good to be cautious.
At this point, it sounds like you might need to return the card. Make sure to act quickly to get a refund if you’ve indeed received a 5080.
Where did you purchase the card? If it's from a retailer, it's possible someone returned it after switching it out with another card. If you can, try to return it for a refund.
It seems like you may have been scammed. Some sellers will swap the heatsink from a 5090 and put it on a lower-end card like a 5080. Definitely check if that's the case before proceeding.
I would recommend pulling the card out and checking for any model stickers near the PCIe connector. Taking some photos might help you identify the real model number.
